The author

Observing people. Listening to their silences.
Telling their stories.

Charles Ballery writes about human relationships, the feelings we conceal, and those encounters that can, in a few moments, change the course of a life.

THE JOURNEY OF A CREATOR

Before devoting himself to writing, Charles Ballery built his career in communication, marketing and international relations.

As the founder of a Parisian communications agency, he worked for many years with words, images and ideas. This experience allowed him to observe very different worlds, meet people from all walks of life and better understand what lies beneath the surface.

He then devoted himself fully to artistic creation. As a painter, he has been developing a personal body of work for several years, exhibits regularly and takes part in public auctions.

Literature gradually became another space for creation. In painting, he composes with shapes, materials and colours. In writing, he explores emotions, silences and human contradictions.

Two different languages, but the same desire: to look beyond what is shown.

The painting

Shapes, materials, and colors. A personal work exhibited regularly.

Writing

Human emotions, silences, and contradictions.

The gaze

What lies behind appearances, in everyday gestures.

WRITING AS CLOSE AS POSSIBLE TO HUMAN RELATIONSHIPS

Charles Ballery's novels speak of love, desire, freedom, jealousy and starting over.

They portray women and men faced with what they had not foreseen: an encounter, an absence, an unexpected attraction or a truth that can no longer be kept silent.

His characters are neither role models nor heroes. They hesitate, make mistakes, search for themselves and try to understand what they feel.

The author does not judge them. He stays with them through their contradictions, with sensitivity and candour, even when their certainties begin to waver.

Our passions teach us what we don't know about ourselves.
